Really?

Why do perfectly capable people use the handicapped button on doors? You have both arms, your legs, you can see - why do you need to use the button? I see people all the time who walk up to the door and push the button then get mad when it doesn't work, then they'll go push the other button and when it still doesn't work they mumble under their breath and open the door with one of their perfectly good hands. I would think it would be easier to just open the damn door and walk in or out of the building. It's even better when I'm walking behind someone and they will stop dead in their tracks to wait for the door to slowly open and they get annoyed that it's slow - uh, hello, if it swung open it would slam into the handicap person who actually needs to use that function on the door. So, really, the door is made to assist the handicapped, not to assist in perfectly capable people's perpetual laziness.

You have a lot to say about this! I have to admit that I do use the button sometimes, and I have both my arms and legs. I use it when my boys are with me, my hands are full, my purse is falling off my shoulder, the littlest one is screaming and kicking, and the oldest one is just standing there with his hands in his pockets. Maybe not the best reason to use the button, but I haven't seen too many people around here willing hold the door so I can grab it.

Hey Torina, I think kids might be a handicap so I give you my permission to use it.
I have used it also when I go to the post office and I have so many boxes that they will fall if I try to grab the door, so I take my toe and push the button, sorry Teresa I am very bad.

Those are both perfectly good reasons to use the button! I'm talking about the people who have a coffee in their left hand and hit the button with their right hand instead of just opening the door. If hands are full or you're trying to wrangle kids while attempting to maintain sanity it's a non-issue to me - absolutely hit the button!
